Max Lucado’s latest book is sure to become a bestseller among those seeking to better understand what the Bible says about end-times. In Max’s own unique style he uses stories and illustrations to help readers unlock the mystery of end-times prophecy and tells what they can expect as heaven’s timeline of events unfolds. At the end of the book there are questions for reflection to be used for deeper individual study or group discussion. This is certainly a very timely and relevant book given the current events of today’s world. It’s definitely a must read for all those wanting a better understanding of what lies ahead.

I’ve heard it said that “fear not “ is in the Bible at least 365 times. One for each day of the year. As we live in these last days, there are many books out there that are more fearful instead of being filled with hope and faith. That is not the case with “What Happens Next.” This is a very good book where Max tackles not being anxiety ridden about these last days as we wait for the return of Jesus. It is possible to be prepared and ready without being in fear. Max did well explaining this subject as he always does.I received an advanced reader’s copy from Nelson Books/Thomas Nelson and Netgalley. Opinions are my own.

This was a fresh perspective on End Times theology. Max Lucado has been an auto-read author since I was first introduced to him in college and as my dad was super interested in End Times, I’m fairly well-versed in what happens next. However, Lucado put a fresh spin on things and one that “felt” more uplifting. Beginning with the covenant made in the Garden of Eden and progressing through the other covenants throughout scripture, Lucado plots out a road map from the beginning of time through the end, taking into account the prophecies in Daniel, Jeremiah, and Revelation. He also references Paul’s letters to the early church, King David, other Old Testament prophets and Jesus Christ himself. Referencing the culture of Bible times, the author paints a picture of why the church/holy city is referred to as a bride and other such significant correlations in the visions John had in Revelation. He also creates a timeline – showcasing where we’ve been so we know what we can still expect to be. While we cannot know the date or time (and the significance of that is also spelled out), Lucado shows what signs we should be continuing to look for before the end will come. With thought-provoking questions at the end, including prayers to accompany each chapter, I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who wants to better understand the end times and where we are in that timeline. If you have questions about the end times, you need to read this book. Max does a great job explaining the end times by making it easy to understand and sharing personal experiences. Once you pick it up you will not want to put it down.

It is pretty clear the times we are living in. Max Lucado’s newest breaks it down it is clearly written and gives biblical basis of how to scriptural walk and trust in the times we live in! As usual, Max puts Revelation into words that are easy to understand. He ties the old and new testament all together in a timeline to Revelation and brings out what it all means for us now. Going through a timeline was eye-opening for me! Seeing how this has been God’s plan all along was mind blowing. I’ve never had it explained like this before. I’m now excited to start the Bible study online!

I absolutely loved this book and had a hard time putting it down! His way with words is so engaging and inspiring. There are many scripture references and I enjoyed taking time to read them. The book was so good and that, along with the Bible, kept my interest. I didn’t read the table of contents to see that there are questions in the back of the book for each chapter so I may have to redo 🙂 There were times that it was so emotional and to have a better interpretation was great. I appreciated how God has blessed him with knowledge and the gift of words. Highly recommend

I was hoping to gain a greater clarity and understanding of the end times, but I quickly discovered there is so more in these pages. Sometimes I feel like we live in an age where we’re constantly being told we’re not enough, not even for God. In Chapter 2, Max tells us, “No One has greater dreams for you than God does. The most insidious deception in human history is the lie that says, ” God is against you.” Nothing could be further from the truth. The one who came up with the very idea of you has plans for your future that are out of this world.” Through the book Max weaves between the story of God’s neverending love for us, and His plan to redeem us, so we can spend eternity with Him in heaven. It’s hard to put the book down, I can’t wait to find out “What Happens Next”!

Living right outside of Washington, DC can be a little rough at times. We hear the helicopters going over our house to the numerous bases around us, we know that we cannot talk to friends or people at church about politics because you could be talking to an aide for a congressman or someone from the White House. So, when I picked up this book, I was quite a bit hopeless. Where can our hope come from during an election year that has been this crazy? I found it in the first few pages of this book.None of this matters from the viewpoint of Revelation. Much like Max, we are seeing things that point to the end times and, much like Max, I needed to find hope in looking up (Col 3:2) and not at what was happening around us. Right from the beginning, the anticipation of Christ coming was able to wipe away my worries. “God tells us what to expect not to scare us, but to prepare us,” was comforting because it feels like most of the world is out to scare us right now.No one has explained Judgment Day in such a way where I actually look forward to it. “We disdain judgment but value justice, yet the second is impossible with the first.” How long have we yearned for justice and now it is promised.These are just two of the hope-filled (that word does not normally go with a discussion of Revelation) examples in this book that totally changed this cradle Christian’s POV on what is to come. Our friends often joke that “we read the Book and we win.” Max Lucado has once again shown how we win and why everyone should turn to Jesus Christ now to win too. And keep looking up!
