Kimberly Ronan –
I have only made the oatmeal cookies and oh my gosh, AMAZING! Rave reviews from friends and family…I splurged to buy the flan rings and it made the cookies feel special and “pro bakery” vibes. I am not even an oatmeal cookie fan but these really take it to the next level with the brown butter and almond meal. I really enjoy reading Nancy’s stories about the recipes and I’m inspired to try more of her recipes.

The Lemon bar recipe was just like my mother used to make during the holidays. Can’t wait to try the double-decker chocolate cookie and the coconut cream slab pie with chocolate and toasted almonds.

I bought this cookbook for a gift. It arrived on time and packaged nicely. It looks beautiful and I hope the recipes live up to the beautiful photographs inside!

I absolutely love this book! The peanut butter cookies are in fact life changing.(the “special” sorghum flour that the other reviews are complaining about is sold is literally any grocery store) I’ve made four recipes so far and all were delicious. Easy to follow and very good directions.

Entertaining reading. Useful and helpful. Wonderful improvements on old recipes. Nancy’s personality comes thru loud and clear. Valuable reference for upgraded and updated recipes! New baking bible, for sure!

This book is exactly what I’ve come to expect from a Nancy Silverton cookbook: precise, detailed…borderline obsessive over every aspect of the recipes. If this is the best cookie (or cake, or muffin) that will change my life, I want to make it EXACTLY how she made it.Was it in fact the cookie that changed my life for the better? Yes, it absolutely was.

I love to flip through my new cook books and mark the pages with recipes I want to try. I flipped through page by page. I am now very hungry, and the book is FULL of book marks! I purchased thinking I’d find lots of good cookie recipes (which I did), but the cakes too! Can’t wait to make the Original Chocolate Birthday Cake with White Mountain Frosting and Carrot Cake with Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting. Also discovered vanilla bean paste, easy to find and reasonably priced alternative to beans. Who knew?!

After skimming through the book of course I zipped right over to the peanut butter cookies. I ordered the correct peanuts (already roasted to save a step) and the flour. I am a decent (most of the time) baker. I understood that Nancy was trying to make my experience turn out successful by making the instructions so detailed. With any new recipe I am making half batches to make sure I get it right and also to see if I like the result. The peanut butter cookies take a little time to make but the result was outstanding. Chewy, crunchy, full of flavor and perfectly sweet but not overly so. I like details in baking books because they take you through the process the author has created. Once you have it down, then it’s time to riff if you like. However, so far I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m on to the next cookie. I’m happy with the book – unlike a lot of other cookbooks where I read them and shelve them, this one already has food splatters and hasn’t seen a shelf yet and probably won’t. About the only thing I’d change (and authors almost never get a say in this one) is to shorten up the title – a whole paragraph title is almost amusing but also useless. I just call it my Nancy book. That works. Looking forward to many more tasty treats from this one. Rye flour arrived so chocolate chunk cookies are next.
