I really don’t have words but I’ll try. Simply put, this was a beautifully written beautiful story. I love the whole concept of the Wild Widows Club (WWC) and thought thought the support group was as much an integral part of this story as the romance itself. Kudos MF!!! I loved how there was so much respect and reverence given to the deceased spouses and those left to grieve. As a widow, I could relate to so much of this book. I can’t wait to continue the series!!!I wish I’d read this story five years ago when I first became a widow. Then again, as described so accurately in this book, I too suffered from grief induced ADD and lost my ability to do my favorite my ability to concentrate. This was so accurate.

I cannot heap enough praise for Someone Like You (Wild Widows Novel Book 1) by Marie Force It is truly a spectacular read and written with amazingly wonderful and real genuineness and sensitivity. Yes, this book (and likely the series as a whole) is extremely heartbreaking which brought me to tears a time or two, but beneath all the tragedy and trauma of loss there is a thread of hope that grows stronger, denser and more palpable over time. Roni and Derek are going to break your heart, but not your hope.Roni is thrown into emotional chaos and her grief truly takes a toll, but it does not defeat her. This character is admirable in so many ways and through her experience and grief, she comes out of it changed, but ultimately stronger.Another character that deserves admiration is Derek. This man! While going through his own trauma, tragedy and grief, he becomes a pillar of strength. I absolutely adore Derek and his daughter, Maeve. They are truly integral to the healing process that is exactly what Roni needs, just as she is exactly what he and Maeve need. My heart thrilled as this relationship grew and included the little ones.Overall, through the organic development of a deep, abiding and honest friendship, Roni and Derek become each other’s rocks, go to person, best friend and love of their lives. This book is full of heartbreak for sure, but also heartwarming through healing, humor, loving support and understanding of family and friends woven together with unending hope. Roni and Derek’s Chapter 1 has ended, but Chapter 2 is full of family, friends, love, hope and promises of a joy-filled HEA.

After reading the fatal series and up through the first family series, so far, I was definitely ready for a slower paced story that was just about emotion in love. No real external chaos; just the story of the personal lives of the principal characters. This was probably my favorite so far between the three interconnected series.

Speaking honestly, it’s doubtful I would’ve read this book except that Marie Force wrote it, and my favorite couple of all time, Sam and Nick, makes a few cameos. Marie has never let me down which is why she’s a favorite, and although the subject matter is one I hope I never have to face, I can say that this book hit close to home. I have a friend who’s in her 30’s who lost her husband recently and is experiencing new love. Her journey is quite different from Roni’s, but the parallels are eye-opening nonetheless.Widowhood is not a topic most of us search out for our reading pleasure, so thank you, Marie, for doing that research for us. Roni and Derek’s slowly evolving love story came with all the feels and showed me a path that, while I hope to never experience it, I’m certainly more understanding of how everyone’s journey is different.Truthfully, I didn’t laugh as I read this book, but I certainly wasn’t depressed and smiled on more than one occasion. Death, and its after-effects, is messy and convoluted and so hard to conceive. Spending time with Roni, Derek and their friends in the Wild Widows was like reclining on a comfy pillow while drinking my favorite beverage. It just simply made me feel good. This book is not a light-hearted romance, but it’s also not dark and depressing. While the subject of being a young widow/widower is not an easy one, this book was a refreshing take on finding someone new after walking a slow path of friendship that leads to love. Take a chance and read this book. You will not be disappointed, but then again, Marie Force has never disappointed me!

Wow, what a way to write about grief and the slow steps of all participants to reclaim life after a tragedy. Although many have experienced loss of loved ones having it happen suddenly and with such violence does create the dark void that anyone that hasn’t experienced it is hard pressed to accept and know the right way to express sincere sympathy to those that are dealing with it. True, many have no idea how to say they’re sorry for the loss. It’s so alien and hard to express adequately to those that are going through this pain and anguish. Many relationships die or shrivel up because of this and that is probably the saddest part. Not only is the parties involved are struggling but the others are too and insensitive comments are made often times without intentionally being meant to hurt. Quite the conundrum. Great story for those dealing with loss of loved ones to read.

Great reading about Roni. Her husband of one month was shot by a random bullet. She is Unconsoleable so a friend asked her to join the Wild Widows group. They are a great help to her. Then she realizes that she is pregnant do she has that also. She meets Derek who is a widower with a little girl. They become friends because of their shared loss and many burgled to overcome.

Someone like you tell’s Roni’s story from The Fatal/First Family Series by Marie Force. We first met Roni after her husband was tragically shot by a stray bullet during Fatal Reckoning (Book 14 of the Fatal Series) Lt. Sam Holland-Cappuano appeared in her office and Roni’s life was torn apart in a way she couldn’t begin to imagine. This shouldn’t be happening. She was a newlywed. Things like this just can’t happen. It’s not real…But it was. In just a blink a eye..during a arguement involving people that they didn’t even know something went horribly wrong…her life was changed in a single second. Destroyed. Never to be the same. If ONLY she had gone to the store her sweet Patrick would be alive. “It’s my fault” is all she thinks. Roni is of course destroyed in that moment..and blames herself. After all if she had gone to the store he wouldn’t have had to go out to get his lunch and he wouldn’t be dead.5 books later (And 3 months have passed in the timeline) in the Fatal/First Family Series (The series evolves and takes on a new challange so we get a new series of books dealing with this change) Marie writes Someone Like You. Where we delve into Roni’s mind and discover her heart and what she is feeling. You see Roni has gone really quiet to almost everyone around her. She is starting a new job at The White House soon… and she will get to it as soon as she is able. But life just hurts so much. How can she go on with it? (No she isn’t suicidal) Just going on seems SO HARD. She walks the streets of her District and follows men who look like Patrick from behind into random coffee shops. Her sister asks if she can give a friend of hers Roni’s number. The friend (Iris) created a group for Widows and Widowers called “Wild Widows” to help support each other because while the people in our lives try to help the only ones who truly know what we are going through are others like us who have lost our loved ones–The people we thought we would spend our lifes with forever are gone. The only rule for joining the group is that you have to be open to finding a second chance of love….someday. Just don’t come and refuse to accept the possibility of finding that love.I have read EVERY book of Maries since I found her with the first book of her Gansett Island series was offered for free. Eventally despite the fact that I tried not to in the beginning I had read every word she wrote and was hitting pre-order without knowing what the book was about. If it is by Marie it is a must read. So of course when she announced Wild Widows last March I didn’t think about it. And then release day was about to hit…You see….I lost my Mom to ALS after a 4 year long battle. When you ask? Feb 9th 2019. My father chose to bury her Feb 14th. The day before release day of this book. And for that very reason this book was made SO MUCH HARDER. You see I have started to collect physical copies of the books along with my Kindle order. Here and on her website…and I actually recieved my copy on Saturday morning due to the pre-order…and thanks to the wishes she has expressed I am typing this up on Sunday evening as I have finished and want to get my thoughts down while it is all so fresh in my mind..but won’t upload it on here until the official release. This book is SOOOO HARD to read at the start because of Roni’s pain. Right now my pain feels fresh and like it happened just minutes ago. I read it over 2 days putting it down when it got too hard to read. Marie has a way of taking you right into what the character is feeling. And Roni’s pain is just that..pain from losing the man she had just married and planned to spend to spend the rest of her life with.Marie..You have written yet another winner. You helped me over the course of the weekend once again feel the feelings I felt right after my Mom’s death but you also helped me get through the pain that I was feeling and to remember why it was ok. And I did some more healing while reading this book. If I could give it more stars I would. The question that I won’t answer here is this…Is this a normal Marie Force book? Is it a love story…or is it a setup for the rest of the series where the members of the “Wild Widows” will all find love and we start to see Roni heal and her journey to that chance at a second love will begin. After all her pain is SO FRESH and real..Can she find love in this story? Will she? My hope is that other reviewers won’t tell you but I am sure they will. After all why would you want to read a story where the main character is miserable. I will tell you this…Roni heals. She has a great support system and you see her become the person she is meant to become after her tragic story. I hope you will give Someone Like You a chance and you follow Roni on her journey. I promise you her story is more than worth it. And I enjoyed watching her learn to be happy again and live her life without Patrick.
