1912 aboard the RMS TitanicThe tragedy of the Titanic is still fascinating after all of these years and will never grow old. Anna Lee Huber, on of my favorite historical mystery writers, excels at combining historical facts with fiction.Three sisters, wanting 3 different outcomes in their lives, are aboard the ship with their parents and come alive with the descriptions and facts that make this story fascinating. Not to be missed. I read this through NetGallery

I loved getting to know some of the passengers on the Titanic. Many I had already heard of. I became more and more anxious as we approached the night the ship sank. How many of my new acquaintances would survive? The details, the anecdotes, the back stories, the descriptions. the flirtations-all contribute to this first rate story of the Fortune sisters of Winnipeg.

I love stories about historical events and the Titanic is my favorite.A family of six visiting Europe will go home on the maiden voyage of the Titanic. The three girls Flora, Mabel and Alice are ready for their set out future. But things change during their trip. But will happen with them when Titanic sinks. Who will survive and what future will they have?I really enjoyed this story, all the sisters are so different but they stand with each other in difficult times. This story is well written with great character building. For fans of historical fiction it’s a must read.

I found myself instantly swept away to another time,(smack dab front and center on the RMS Titanic!) Sisters of Fortune, by Anna Lee Huber pulled me into the story of the very real people on their doomed voyage in April 1912. This is a beautifully written book that had me googling some of the survivors to find out what became of them after Titanic. I look forward to reading more books by Anna Lee Huber.

This is a fictional account of what happened to the Fortune family on that fateful journey on the Titanic. Yes, we know what happens to that ship, but though the eyes of the author, the opulence, the people, some famous that we rub shoulders with. The Fortune family from Winnipeg Canada, have been touring both Africa and Europe, from the pyramids to castles, and now are returning home to marriages of two of the three daughters traveling. Alice, Flora, and Mable, along with their parents and younger brother Charlie have finished their grand tour and now on the fastest, and safest ship ever built, heading home to their futures. We are given a grand tour of the ship through Charlie, he has read everything available on this great ship! We are also there for some sweet shipboard romance, but can it continue? Unfortunately, we are there as the disaster happens, and further mistakes are made. We also see whom is able to survive.I thank Anna Lee Huber for bringing this this story alive, and putting faces on this tragic journey! Be sure to read the Author’s notes!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

Of course, pretty much everyone knows something about the fateful tragedy of the Titanic but not so much about many of the passengers. Author Anna Lee Huber, who is one of my favorite writers, takes on the task of telling the story of the real-life Fortune family from Canada, specifically the three younger sisters. Full of meticulously researched details, the novel is as lush as the ship’s first-class accommodations, and I find these details help readers feel part of the story. I enjoy all of these minutiae and do not feel they slow the pace of the tale. Huber does take some liberties creating a fictional love interest for one of the sisters, but he is based on aspects and experiences of real-life people.I really enjoyed SISTERS OF FORTUNE. I highly recommend it to any historical fiction reader and fans of Huber’s other works.

SISTERS OF FORTUNE tells the little known story of three sisters aboard the ill-fated maiden voyage of the Titanic. Most readers are well aware of the outcome, since the event continues to capture public interest after all these years. But as with any piece of fiction based on a historical event, a skillful author will parcel out details and paint the event as accurately as possible, through the eyes of her characters, hoping that we will continue to learn from the past. Ms. Huber adroitly pens the helplessness felt by the passengers and crew as they realized that the impossible was happening.I absolutely loved the way author Anna Lee Huber fleshed out the little known details of these real-life women from Canada, grabbing my imagination with the what-might-have-been. The lives of these women reflect the attitudes of the time period. Each is at a turning point in their life, grappling with the path that has been set for them. Adding additional depth to the story, Ms. Huber deftly inserts brief mentions of other well-known passengers. I found this to be a wonderful tribute to Titanic’s unsung heroes whose stories have never been told.**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher through Netgalley. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Sisters of FortuneBy: Anna Lee Huber5 StarsI want to brag on this book. It is an amazing and gorgeous depiction of the Titanic. It was written well, and the descriptions made me feel as if I was there. It follows the three Fortune sisters, Alice, Flora, and Mabel. Each sister has her own set of trials she faces on this epic journey and ship. They soon discover that their lives will never be the same, whether they choose it or not.You can probably compare this story to any other that you get of the Titanic. The ship, the story, the aftermath, all the same, but in this one, you get so much more feeling combined with drama, romance, and family. It was a story all on its own. It was as much about the Fortunes as it was the ship. It was a very intriguing and heartwarming, as well as heartwrenching, story. I loved everything about it. I loved the sisters, each with their own quirky personality. Feisty Mabel and her big dreams. Alice with her nightly secret. And then Flora, the one who surprised and shocked. The rest of the family as well were fun to follow. I loved all the new characters as well as following some more well-known historical figures.Overall, I completely loved this story. I loved the history and the writing. I loved it all.Stormi EllisBoundless Book Reviews
