The fountain works 24/7 when plugged in to a power source or it will turn on when it detects motion. The motion detection is very generous so I cannot imagine even the smallest cat having a hard time triggering it. You get the option of a little top so the water can come down from that; or letting it spout with no top on. The fountain is very easy to clean and holds an adequate amount of water for a cat. My cat uses the fountain and I have enjoyed cleaning and setting it up for him. I recommend the product.

Noise:This fountain is SUPER quiet. I don’t even hear vibration/hums from it like my other fountains, and I don’t even hear the water making noise as it comes from the little sprout.Water Level:You are not able to see the water level so it’s difficult to gauge when you need to fill it. I know there is supposed to be a light to tell you, but I rather glance and see the level than wait for a light to come on.Cleaning:One thing I didn’t think about is pump cleaning. It comes with a brush which is nice, but I usually like to clean the fountain and grab a spare pump and set that up for my cats, and let the dirty pump run through with vinegar in a deep container overnight. You can’t do that here. The pump needs to be in the fountain to pump, because it needs to be on the docking station since this is “wireless”. I don’t know what I’ll do to thoroughly clean the pump since I don’t want to dump vinegar in the whole fountain and stink up the fountain and leave the cats without their fountain all night.Other than that, I will say it is really nice being able to lift the whole fountain and take it to the sink to empty without worrying about the pump running dry or dragging the wire on the floor and stepping on it. It’s just amazing how far fountains have come.My Cats Opinion:They seem to enjoy it. I keep it plugged in so it’s always on. I have not had a power outage so I don’t know if it’ll work well when it’s running off of battery but I don’t foresee any issues. My girl tends to favor my iPettie ceramic fountain more but she doesn’t seem to hate this one.

My cats drink more water since I bought this fountain. They seem to love it because they can sit up and drink instead of hunching over a small bowl.I like it because I don’t have to worry about refilling a water bowl multiple times per day. The filters work great. The water stays clean. The filters catch whatever food/fur dropped into the fountain from the cats so they’re not drinking it as the clean water pours back in.It’s very sleek and modern looking. EXTREMELY quiet. It literally makes no noise. Charge lasts a few weeks. It would probably last a few months if it wasn’t in such a high traffic area in my house. There is a light that flashes when the battery is low or when the water limit is low. I have found that these could be better. I feel that it has stopped working at times and I didn’t get enough of a warning. So just pay attention to your cat scratching at it or whining and make sure that it’s actually still working every now and then.

I got a Petlibro water fountain “gen 1” of a very similar system / design for my cat because he famously holds food in his mouth and drops it in his water. Getting the original one combated a lot of the issues I saw with that, giving my cat cleaner water, longer.HOWEVER, there were a TON of design flaws with the original product, here they are:1: (and probably the most annoying part of that product) The water spout they used, was an enclosed part (you can take the top off of it) and it would always collect a bunch of the dirty food water in it from my cat. After a while, this part became disgusting and I couldn’t find good ways to clean it so it got worse and worse over time. This is no longer a concern with the new design because it has an open spout, which all corners and sections of it are easy to clean.2. The pump. The “gen 1” water pump collected a lot of stuff inside of it easily and had really small spaces inside of it, so even a pipe cleaner couldn’t reach the very edges of some of those spots I needed to clean inside of the pump. With the new system, the pump encasing looks smaller, but those hard to clean areas are redesigned to make things easier to clean.3. The “water transport thing” (since I don’t know the technical name, it is the part that connects to the pump and delivers the water upward through the fountain to the spout from the bowl itself) was really hard to clean and had some sort of stuff stick onto it over time that wouldn’t come off. In the case of the new design, this is the exact same part so hopefully it is easier to clean.4. The “tray.” The tray is a part that also collected a bunch of the dirtiness from the food water and was somewhat hard to clean. With the new design all edges are accessible so you don’t have to worry about not being able to reach those spots when you’re cleaning.5. The old product was wired and annoying. The new water bowl is battery operated and the pump magnetically/wirelessly operates using the battery powered base underneath.Overall thoughts on the new Dockstream Wireless water fountain (PLWF115):- this fountain is an improvement in every way from what I could see from the original design.- my cat immediately took to it- it has a higher capacity for more water in the bowl- it has a smaller and smarter water filter location/application- it is motion sensing so the bowl only uses the battery when my cat walks near it for water, saving a ton of battery in the bank (which is 5,000 MAH so it should last a while between charges.- the new unit is able to detect when water is low and won’t run the pump, risking the possibility of burning the motor out or hearing that annoying water noise until you fill it up again- there is a clever low water, low battery, and charging indicator. You almost can’t even see they are there- there is a clever charging / power button solution. This hides under the unit so if you have cats that play with wires, you can easily hide them under a mat so your cat wouldn’t know the difference.Overall, at full price or on sale this is a must buy for anyone considering getting it for their pet.

If you happen to own a cat, you may be aware of the challenge of encouraging them to drink water. I wanted to share my positive experience with this particular fountain, as I find it extremely effective. In my household, I have two cats: Pixel, who is the leader, and Castiel, who is the crafty sidekick. Interestingly, Pixel instinctively alerted me when the water level was getting low, and I’m not quite sure how she knew. Both Castiel and Pixel have figured out that they can activate the fountain by gently waving their paws, and they absolutely love it. I frequently observe them drinking from it, making me confident that they are well-hydrated. Additionally, the fountain has a built-in filtration system that efficiently collects debris and stray hairs at the bottom, ensuring that their water remains clean. Being wireless, it offers an added sense of convenience and peace of mind. Personally, I consider this purchase to be one of the smartest investments I’ve made for my beloved toddlers.

After my petsafe drinkwell fountain died, I decided to look at different options. Personally, I thought the drinkwell was difficult to clean with all the nooks and crannies. This created a lot of extra work to maintain. I came across Petlibro’s product (probably a sponsored ad on Instagram). I liked the concept of the wire-free pump. Assembly and disassembly is insanely easy. I really like the auto shutoff if the water level is too low. Cleaning is very easy and the product comes with a pipe cleaner brush for the silicone tube. I also appreciate the near-silent operation–though depending on water level there could be an elevated water trickling noise as water flows from the basin back into the reservoir. Lastly, and probably most importantly, my cat loves it. Honestly, I think he drinks more and plays less with this fountain.

**UPDATE**After first receiving a fountain with a defective pump, Pet Libro sent me a brand new fountain that works great. My cats love it! Don’t hesitate–this is a super fountain and they stand by their product–if you have a problem they will make it right quickly! Was very excited to get my kitties their first fountain. It arrived today and I painstakingly assembled it only for it to do nothing. I’ve taken it apart, put it back together at least ten times. I’ve watched a ton of YouTube videos. It does nothing. No sign of water running whatsoever. All the troubleshooting refers to a blockage or needing to clean the pump, which is obviously not the problem for a new fountain. So far this has been a huge frustration and waste of time and money.

I love that this is so quiet, can be run via rechargeable battery, or attached to an electrical outlet, is simple in its design and easy to refill and easy to clean. I have tried so many water fountains and had given up and figured, well, a bowl will have to do… but cats do drink more using a fountain. SO HAPPY with this purchase! It took me a few minutes to figure it out, how to set it up and get it working, but not due to it being complicated or poor instructions, just cuz new and different I think. My kitty loves it too.

The media could not be loaded.  I think what I learned buying this fountain a couple months ago is that there is a larger difference between cat fountains and the enjoyment of it in your home than I was prepared for.We have a 7 year old Cornish Rex cat. She has always preferred what we call “human water” as in my water, my husband’s water, really anything but her water. We got her a cat fountain a year ago (not this one) and pretty quickly she started using it. She was asking for human water less, but would still steal our waters from time to time. After 6 months or so, our cat discovered something new… “sink water” and started developing bad habits around demanding water from every sink she could get to. She’d use the cat fountain when we weren’t home, and didn’t totally depend on sink water when we were home…. But it was clear: sink water is best water now.As the fountain i purchased got older it became clear that it was getting gross and dirty faster and faster, hard to clean and the motor was working a little haphazardly. It did not have a battery backup either, so when we’d leave the house for extended periods, I left the house like that girl from Signs with half full glasses of water all over the house in case the power went out. Finally I got sick of the constant cleaning of it, listening to it burgle at night, and decided to try replacing it with something else. Enter PetLibro.I figured the battery backup would be a cool option and was pleased that they offered replacement filters for all their products that weren’t too expensive. Also liked the look well enough, not as cool looking as my last fountain, but the integrated battery and other tech were a big plus.To say that this fountain was an upgrade would be an understatement. It’s easier to clean, the wireless motor is awesome, the tank is quite large and water lasts a long time, and my cat has COMPLETELY STOPPED asking for sink water and human water. The only thing she’s begging for now are treats and a thimble of milk from the fridge which, let’s face it, she was never gonna stop asking for that. She likes the fountain attachment on top as it mimics her love of the sink faucet. The unit is MUUUUUCH quieter than our last fountain, which honestly I thought was quiet but now realize how wrong I was. The battery backup is a nice piece of mind.Things to note that I have learned using this fountain:-You HAVE TO SOAK THE NEW FILTERS for a while, like 10min and rinse them before install. The instructions tell you this, but I tried cutting corners once or twice and the results are super gross musty looking water. Soak and rinse!-getting to the filter can feel like you’re going to break something. There’s no instructions on how to open the compartment, but it’s just a tight press fit that makes you feel like you’re about to snap the hard plastic. Just power through those concerns, it’ll be fine.-the battery only mode doesn’t fun the fountain all the time. It cycles on the water like every x number of minutes per hour. If you like the water constantly moving/filtering you HAVE to plug it in.-water will collect between the container and the battery base. It doesn’t hurt anything, the base is wirelessly powering the motor, but sometimes you can get suction between the base and container when you go to pick it up because it’s sitting in a puddle.TLDRAll in all GREAT fountain. Thought it would be like any other but I was wrong, this has absolutely changed my cats behavior for the better. Very happy with my purchase.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t think I was going to like this fountain, but the wireless pump drew me in enough to try it. I’ve had numerous fountains – different brands, different materials – over the past 10 years. Some were more expensive than this one, some were less expensive. So, as I write this review, I’m using the experiences I’ve had with ALL of those fountains for my comparison, and I’ve had the PetLibro for about 2 months now.FIRST: Set up – The set up of this fountain is SUPER simple. The instructions are clear, but you really don’t even need them. Everything is intuitive, and the fountain really only fits together one way. You can’t even put the motor in backwards thanks to the notched design that makes it fit neatly in the bowl.SECOND: Operation – Full disclosure, I’ve only used the constantly on function, so I can only speak to that. It stays plugged in, so I don’t use the cordless function, though I do like that it’s an option. The water flow is excellent, and it is very quiet. The lack of a window to monitor water level is what kept me from purchasing this sooner. I didn’t think the the red light that notifies you when the water level is low would be noticeable enough, but it really is. And surprisingly, the motor shut off when the level is too low actually works. When operating, the fountain is VERY quiet. I don’t hear any motor sound at all, and very little water sound. Refilling is quite simple – you can remove the bowl from the base, remove the top and fill it per the instructions. I know the instructions say not to just top off the water by adding from the top, but honestly, as long as you don’t overfill, I don’t see why you can’t do that in a pinch. I have four small dogs, so we have to refill at least once a day, and it doesn’t need to be rinsed out every day, so I do sometimes just top off.THIRD – and this is the kicker – CLEANING: The one thing that has always been painful about pet fountains for me is the cleaning. The taking apart and putting back together. We have always had at least two fountains, and with some of the fountains we’ve had, cleaning them was a chore. Lots of parts to take apart, clean, replace the filter and put back together. This fountain is SO easy to clean. Fewer parts, easy to put back together, and because of the wireless motor, so much easier to clean without worrying about the power end of a cord getting wet while you’re struggling to take the motor apart for cleaning. This fountain cuts the cleaning time in half at least, and because of the ease of cleaning, I’ve been much better about cleaning more frequently (every two weeks as recommended). For some reason, this fountain also doesn’t seem to get as gross as other fountains I’ve had get.FOURTH – Expense – The replacement filters for this are no more expensive than the filters for other fountains, and you can get them auto shipped, which is nice so you don’t run out or have to remember to re-order. They are smaller than most of the other fountains filters I’ve used as well.I’ve been surprisingly impressed with this fountain, and have replaced two of my three fountains with the PetLibro so far. When that third (least used) fountain dies, it will be replaced with a PetLibro.
