I’ve been hearing about Emily Henry’s books for ages now, and I had them all on my tbr list. This was my first. I get the hype. All the feels. All the highs and lows. Loved it.

This book was so good. I just couldn’t stop turning the page. This is my first Emily Henry book and I will read more.

I love romance books and I loved that this one didn’t totally play out like so many other romance novels.

I loved this one so much! Emily Henry is amazing and can do no wrong! This story about two authors who have totally different writing styles end up living next door to each other on the beach. They don’t socialize much but they eventually learn they already know each other. They of course both have different memories from their past. Nonetheless, the friendship grows. January and Gus make an agreement to each write the other’s style. Gus typically writes all dooms day style and January is all happily ever afters ( which Gus can’t stand) But seeing how they both have a case of writers block, they make a bet. They do research together and learn more about each other in the process. They are both also going through tough times in their lives. They begin to lean on one another and the rest is history. I loved these characters so much. It made me want to go to North Bear Shores and stay in a beach house and explore the quirky little town and its inhabitants. Emily Henry has a way of making you feel transported. And I love it!

After I downed Book Lovers, I went back and bought 3 more Emily Henry books, this being one of them. And as with Book Lovers, I loved it. I live for the banter between the main characters.Poor January is having a rough time, and having to move into the place where that hard time originates isn’t exactly wonderful. What is wonderful, though, is her neighbor, Gus, who was her frenemesis in college…on her side, at least! Lol! It was easy to see that that might not have been the case for Gus, but with his less-than-sparkling personality on first impression, he obviously didn’t come off as interested in our girl.I loved the premise of two authors who are struggling, and the bet they make that encourages both in a way that challenges them but also helps get them writing again. And not just writing, but in different genres, no less. I loved seeing January take what she was going through and start applying it to her story! It was so different for her, but from the little glimpses we saw, I loved it.I enjoy getting the background on our characters, and poor Gus, he had a rough go of it, which explained so much about him! This was a slowwwww-burn, but with some amazing tension and banter and angst to make up for it. The spice when it hit was definitely satisfying, and I was more than happy. I adored the ending, but just wish there was a little something more…I can’t quite explain it though.I can’t wait to dive into my next Emily Henry book, as she now has a fan for life!

Absolutely loved the banter, the writing, and the journey in this Emily Henry book. The names felt a little much and out of place for me, but the passion, commitment to writing, and the struggles felt real for each of the characters. I was rooting for them to succeed together and apart throughout the book, and looked forward to seeing the end results. I almost wish their books could have been published for a read as well =). Emily Henry makes her stories feel real and relevant, rather than just typical. Another feel good read by one of the best romance authors I’ve ever come across.
