THE IMPORTANCE OF USING A CLAY BAR ON YOUR CAR PAINT
Many car owners believe that hand drying their vehicle with microfiber towels is the final step to any successful car wash. However, there may still be thousands or even millions of microscopic contaminants embedded in your clear coat that cannot be removed using regular car wash soap. Waxing or polishing over these contaminants can create scratches and swirls in your paint finish. The article suggests using a clay bar, some clay bar lubricant and a microfiber towel to get rid of these stubborn pollutants.
Q&A about car clay bars.

What is a clay bar treatment?
A clay bar treatment is a process that removes bonded contaminants from your car’s clear coat. It pulls contaminants such as water spots, brake dust, metal dust, industrial pollution, and grit from the clear coat. Used with a clay lubricant, these contaminants come loose and get stuck in the clay.

How to determine if your car needs treatment?
use a method called the”baggie trick”to determine whether car needs a clay bar treatment. Just take out a plastic bag and pull it over your hand like a glove. Then, glide your hand over the surface of your car. The bag will make it easier to feel any stubborn contaminants stuck in the clear coat..
Q&A about car clay bars

How often should you perform a clay bar treatment?
It depends on how often you drive your car and where you park it. If you park your car outside or near trees, you may need to perform a clay bar treatment more often than someone who parks their car in a garage. A good rule of thumb is to perform a clay bar treatment twice a year.

How to perform a clay bar treatment?
First, wash your car with soap and water to remove any loose dirt or debris. Then, spray a lubricant on a small section of your car and rub the clay bar back and forth over that section until it feels smooth. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a microfiber towel before moving on to another section.

you cannot apply this claybar in the sun you have to have cool shade, early morning is the best you can do larger areas and it goes much faster gets the surface clean and smooth and wax is much easier to apply

This worked very well. It was easy to use and removed all impurities from the finish of multiple vehicles. This product worked much better than the expensive product that I have used in the past that was purchased from my local auto parts store.

My newer car developed a sandpaper feel to the paint…. my husband thought it was grinder dust from when he sometimes grinds stuff in the garage but nope, was not, wouldn’t be so evenly distributed over all our cars.. Saw a post online where someone scraped the same sort of bits off their windshield & the bits stuck to a magnet so is likely unhealthy stuff in our air. I used to think chemtrails were BS but the way that there’s SO MANY “contrails” in the sky & the way they stay in the sky spreading & clouding up the expanse for hours/the whole day tells me otherwise. Contrails dissipate within a short span of time in comparison. This product gets those metal bits off the car where regular rubbing compound couldn’t. Have to work at it though, rub hard but at least it works. Our professional car detailer neighbor told us about this product, thanks Honda guy!

I’ve read about clay bars for years. I always thought it sounded gimmicky, so I never tried them until I stumbled across this product. Highly rated, and on sale. I figured I would give it a try. I used it on my red 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I had some road grime, water spots, tree sap, caked on bird poo, etc. that wasn’t coming off, even with vigorous hand washing. I decided to start with a small area right on the hood. I used the clay bar and spray lubricant, and with a little effort, the stains, stuck on flecks, and discoloration were GONE! I looked at the bar and could actually see the debris stuck to it. I folded over the bar (it’s soft and malleable, like modeling clay) and tried another spot. This time I worked on one half of the grill. Lots of embedded gunk, baked on bug guts, grime… I sprayed, rubbed, sprayed, rubbed some more, then rinsed it off and wiped it down, and the difference was immediately noticeable when I compared the side rubbed with clay bar to the untouched side. That’s all the proof I needed. This stuff works! I spent the next hour and a half rubbing the clay bar all over every painted surface of the Jeep and then waxed it. It looks brand new, and that is not an exaggeration. Yes, you have to use a little elbow grease. Yes, it takes time and patience. You can only really concentrate on one small area at a time for this to really be effective. But the results are worth it.
